The Released Parties (defined below) are NOT responsible for any lost, late, delayed or misdirected entries, or the marketing or fulfillment of the Contest.
ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR ENTRY: Each submitted Video must be entrant’s original creation and may not include previously published material. Videos may not display or include any trademarked, copyrighted, proprietary and/or brand names, logos, images, material or objects for which entrant does not have rights. By submitting a Video, each entrant (or the parent/legal guardian of any minor entrant) represents and warrants that the subject(s) and/or person(s) depicted in the Video have given consent to its submission into the Contest and its use as contemplated by these Official Rules. Videos that require license or usage rights from any third party or that show or disclose third party artistic works, copyrights, trademarks/tradenames, logos, brand names or similar identifying marks (other than the trademarks/tradenames of BGCA) are not eligible and will be disqualified. Videos cannot defame or invade the rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any third party’s personal, proprietary or intellectual rights. Videos must be consistent with BGCA’s brand reputation in the marketplace and must be suitable for audiences of all ages. Videos shall not contain, include or involve any of the following: obscenity, crude, vulgar or offensive pictures, depictions, images, language and/or symbols; gang signs or symbols; violence, explicit sexual activity; nudity; illegal drug or alcohol use; commercial products (e.g., clothing, toys, food) and/or their trademarks, brands, logos or endorsements; unauthorized trademarks and copyrighted material (e.g., music, fake Oscar statuettes, etc.); license plates, phone numbers, personal addresses (physical or email or otherwise); website or web page links; derogatory characterizations of any ethnic, racial, sexual or religious groups or humiliate other people (publicly or otherwise), any assault or threatening of others; trespass or the violation of other people’s rights or property; illegal (e.g., discriminatory, harassing) or inappropriate activity, behavior or conduct (e.g., inflicting emotional distress). Videos that include conduct or activities in violation of these Official Rules, or any other content, display, materials and/or images that is or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive, as determined by BGCA in its sole discretion, are ineligible and are subject to disqualification. Entries will be screened prior to posting and those that do not meet the stated criteria above, or entries that (in BGCA’s sole discretion) may technically meet the stated criteria but do not reflect the intent and the spirit of the provisions related to participation, are not eligible and will be disqualified without notification by BGCA to the entrant. Videos must be in digital format. Only uploaded entries will be eligible. No film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest. Any Videos that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
DETERMINATION OF FINALISTS: Up to ten (10) Finalists will be chosen from among all eligible entries received on or before 11:59 p.m. PST on August 7, 2017 by BGCA, whose decisions on all matters relating to the Contest are final. Finalist entries will be screened prior to prize judging and those that do not meet the stated criteria above in the “How To Enter” and “Additional Criteria for Entry” in BGCA’s sole discretion are not eligible and will be disqualified without notification by BGCA to the entrant. Judging will be conducted by a panel of representatives from BGCA. Finalists will be judged based on the following criteria: (i) significance of personal impact (the extent to which the experience influenced the entrant’s future) (40%), (ii) use of originality and creativity in depicting the story in video or photo/story description (30%), and (iii) effectiveness and clarity of communication and mode of presentation (30%). However, at BGCA’s discretion, BGCA may select Finalists based on the judging criteria using some other means. Finalists will be notified via email on or before 7:00 a.m. PST on Monday, August 14, 2017. Finalists (or Finalist’s parent/legal guardian, if Finalist is a minor) must confirm their continued participation in the Contest within 24 hours of notification or be disqualified. In the event a Finalist(s) is disqualified, BGCA, in its sole discretion, may select an alternate Finalist(s) based on the judging criteria.
PRIZE JUDGING CRITERIA AND DETERMINATION OF GRAND PRIZE, SECOND PRIZE AND THIRD PRIZE WINNERS: Finalists’ entries will be posted online at BGCA.org/BGCmade and Facebook.com/BGCalumni beginning at 7:00 a.m. PST on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. One (1) potential Grand Prize winner, one (1) potential Second Prize winner, and one (1) potential Third Prize winner will be selected from among the Finalists. The general public will be invited to vote for their favorite entry based on each entry’s adherence to the judging criteria: (i) significance of personal impact (the extent to which the experience influenced the entrant’s future), (ii) use of originality and creativity in depicting the story in video or photo/story description, and (iii) effectiveness and clarity of communication and mode of presentation. Anyone able to access the Internet is eligible to vote for their favorite entry. Voting begins at 7:00 a.m. PST on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 and ends at 11:59 p.m. PST on Monday, August 21, 2017 (the “Voting Period”).
Voters may review the entries and cast their votes by visiting BGCA.org/BGCmade. Voters may vote for the entry of their choice several times a day during the Voting Period (“Voters”). However, BGCA reserves the right to withdraw votes from an entry when the appearance of “gaming” the system has occurred.
The Finalist with the highest number of votes will be determined as the potential Grand Prize winner; the Finalist with the second highest number of votes will be determined as the potential Second Prize winner; and the Finalist with the third highest number of votes will be determined as the potential Third Prize winner. Any entry may be eliminated, regardless of the number of votes it receives, in BGCA’s sole discretion (i) if it is not consistent with BGCA’s brand reputation in the marketplace, including its reputation for quality and integrity, (ii) if it does not reflect the goals of the Contest, (iii) if the language or imagery of the Video is not suitable for all ages, or (iv) if the entry is so deficient in content or execution as to be unclear or inappropriate. In the event of ties in vote totals among potential Finalists, BGCA will revisit the tied entries and choose as the potential prize winner, the entry that best reflects all judging criteria as a whole. The potential prize winners will be notified via phone, e-mail, and/or mail on or about Friday, August 25, 2017 by BGCA. Final designation as a Contest prize winner depends on verification of eligibility as determined by BGCA. Return of any notification of potential Contest prize winners as undeliverable or failure to accept any prize within the specified time period will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received during the Entry Period and the quality of the entries.
